- In-app help and supportAccess support tickets directly from the app and view contextual help articles when errors occur.
Improvements
- Clearer limit error messagesError messages now explicitly state which usage limit was reached, helping you quickly identify and resolve account restrictions.
Fixes
- UI and editor detection fixesResolved issues with the achievements dialog freezing, corrected custom editor detection in the dropdown, and fixed hover colors.
Achievement Feature, Repository config editor, custom editors, etc
The latest release introduces a per‑account credential vault with live token verification, a built‑in repository config editor with support for custom editors, and a gamified widget showing level, XP, and achievements. The UI has been streamlined with searchable settings, fixes for macOS translocation issues, and support for remote URL fallback. A key bug fix also removes duplicate credential entries in Windows Credential Manager.
Features
- Per‑account credential vault with live token verificationCredentials are now stored once per account instead of per repository, and the app verifies GitHub/GitLab tokens in real time, showing colour‑coded expiry badges and dashboard warnings so you can keep tokens fresh.
- Repository config editor and custom editorsEdit a repository's local Git config directly in the app and add your own external editors, which appear alongside built‑in options for a smoother workflow.
- Level and achievements widgetA new header widget displays your current level, XP progress, and recent achievements, adding a gamified view of your GitPersona usage.
Improvements
- Searchable settings and reorganized UIAll settings can now be filtered by keyword, and the settings view has been restructured into clear, searchable sections for quicker configuration.
- Auto‑updater respects start‑minimized preferenceAfter installing an update, the app relaunches hidden when you have chosen to start minimized, preventing unwanted windows from appearing.
- macOS update relocation fixes translocation issueWhen run from a read‑only App Translocation mount, the updater now offers a “Move & Restart” option that copies the app into Applications and clears the quarantine flag.
- Untracked repository remote fallback supportThe app can now infer a repository’s remote URL from Git metadata, allowing per‑account pinning without a prior in‑app scan.
Fixes
- Fixed duplicate per‑repo credential entriesRepositories no longer create separate credential entries in Windows Credential Manager on each assignment, reducing vault clutter.
CLI Tool for Config Management Added
With this release, you can now manage your GitPersona configurations directly from the terminal using our new command-line tool, available on Windows, macOS, and Linux. This tool offers interactive features and subcommands, seamlessly integrating with the desktop app.
Features
- GitPersona CLI with interactive REPLA new standalone command‑line tool lets you manage GitPersona configurations directly from the terminal, offering subcommands and an interactive REPL. It works on Windows, macOS, and Linux and shares the same gitpersona.json as the desktop app.
Enhanced Usability and Transparency Features
Guided tours now walk you through each feature, the sidebar can be collapsed for more screen space, and a new About screen lists all 722 bundled dependencies with searchable licenses. Accessibility is improved with a zoom level indicator, the window’s maximize button is disabled for consistent sizing, and achievements are temporarily hidden while under development.
Features
- Guided Tour CenterAdds per‑feature guided tours that open the relevant modals and highlight fields, helping users learn each part of the app without completing actions.
- License TransparencyIntroduces an About‑screen listing all 722 bundled dependencies with searchable license texts, improving openness and compliance.
Improvements
- Collapsible SidebarThe sidebar can now be collapsed to an icon‑only mode, with its state saved across launches, giving users more screen space.
- Zoom IndicatorShows a zoom level indicator for accessibility, allowing users to see and adjust the interface scaling.
- UI refinementsDisables the maximize button to keep the window at its intended size and temporarily hides achievements while they are under development.
